Description:

Gottlieb Emergency Department is a 17 bed state of the art Emergency Department (ED) that provides high quality, comprehensive care to patients of all ages. Level 2 Trauma Center with dedicated resuscitation rooms and a Stroke Ready Facility. We are seeking an EMS/EDAP Coordinator.

  • EMS Coordinator : (EMSC) will serve as the primary liaison between Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (GMH) and Loyola EMS System. EMSC will ensure that GMH maintains compliance with all appropriate EMS rules, standards, and regulations. EMSC will act as a Loyola EMS system educator per Associate Hospital participation guidelines. EMSC will serve at GMH Pediatric Quality Liaison for Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) and ensure that GMH maintains current compliance will EDAP standards. EMSC will track EMS volumes, transfer volumes, EMTALA compliance and report to various quality committees. EMSC will provide education to all Emergency Department staff related to EMS/ECRN/Pediatric throughout the year. EMSC will track EMS expenditures, EMS supplies, and the EMS Radio system. EMSC will hold meetings for EDAP on a regular basis and report findings to the Emergency Department Quality Committee.

  • EMS Liaison : Tracks the quality of EMS care delivered to GMH from prehospital sources. Acts as a Loyola EMS educator per Associate hospital guidelines. Tracks EMS volume and trends and reports to Manager and assigned committees. Provides ED staff education from a EMS/ECRN standpoint on a regular basis. Reviews EMS runs and provides education to EMS providers and ED staff. Tracks ED transfers and EMTALA compliance. Tracks EMS supplies, equipment and EMS radio. Schedules and arranges EMS students clinical experiences in the Emergency Department in conjunction with the ED Manager. EMS representative to Emergency Management Committee and other committees as deemed.

  • EDAP Coordinator: Acts as the Pediatric Quality Liaison for GMH. Ensures that GMH maintains all standards for continued EDAP compliance including but not limited to tracking staff and provider education, pediatric supplies, pediatric clinical protocols, pediatric mocks codes/drills. Acts as the content expert/writer of the Pediatric Disaster Annex. Acts as the pediatric representative to the Emergency Management committee.

  • Department Support : Tracks non trauma educational certification for the Emergency Department. Provides oversight of incoming staff during orientation period in conjunction with the department manager. Provides clinical support in the emergency department as needed. Will provide ECRN coverage.

  • Quality Improvement : Provides education to ED staff/Providers when EMS/EDAP standards are not met. Trends opportunities and creates improvement projects based on data. Works with ED Manager and ED Medical Director to initiative and oversee quality improvement projects.

Skills, Knowledge Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's Degree in Nursing preferred

  • 5 years of work experience in Emergency, Trauma or Critical Care required

  • Knowledge of EMS systems and experience working with EMS providers preferred

  • Strong communication, assessment & management skills

  • Basic/intermediate computer skills with emphasis on MS word & Excel

  • Financial Data interpretation, Statistical Analysis, Project Planning skills preferred

  • Local travel is required
