Health Advocates Network RN - Cardiovascular Intensive Care in Medford, Oregon

  1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.

Care of post open heart surgery and cardiac medical patients. Vents/Trach's and trach care

  1. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) Epic computer system, Omnicell Medication Administration, B. Braun IV Pumps, Avea ventilators, Edwards and Phillips patient monitoring.

  2. Required skills and minimum years of experience.

3 years RN experience, 1 year of CVICU nursing, post heart cath recovery and patient management, post op day 1 open heart surgery patient management, experience with long term ventilated patients, experience with swan ganz catheters, and vasoactive medication titration.

  1. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)

Oregon RN License, BLS, ACLS

  1. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)

12 hour shifts, every other weekend (may need to work consecutive weekends to accommodate requested time off), RN Union Contract states traveler or agency nurses float prior to regularly employed staff. Traveler RN may float to any floor. If they float to med-surg, they are there as a resource nurse and may take a reduced assignment. Scheduled call is not required, but can be put on mandatory stand by due to low census for their regularly scheduled shift.

  1. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)

Will float to ICU, IMCU, ED first and then Medical Surgical, telemetry, post-surgical, ortho neuro. RN Union Contract states traveler or agency nurses float prior to regularly employed staff. Traveler RN may float to any floor. If they float to med-surg, they are there as a resource nurse and may take a reduced assignment.

  1. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)

1:1 and 1:2

  1. Dress Code:

Standard Scrubs - any colors. No visible tattoos on the neck or above. No facial piercings.

12 hours orientation to CVICU.
