Revenue Accountant

Cengage Learning Management Services is a shared service center where we provide Accounting support and services for Business Units within Cengage Learning. We support transactional processing, data analysis, and reporting, for both Domestic and International units.

This position completes billings and revenue accruals, support audits, ensure timely completion of revenue cycle with an understanding of revenue impact to company financials. This position works closely with various departments within the organization using collaboration and interpersonal skills.

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of ASC606 and the full revenue cycle, as well as basic accounting skills. This is a person who is process oriented with a strong emphasis on internal controls. To be successful in the role, ability to work well in a team, possess excellent detail orientation, strong written and verbal communication, and innovation within a fast-paced environment!

What You’ll Do Here:

• Supports cross-functional processes related to revenue and contract management while using JD Edwards Enterprise One & Hyperion.

• Ensures application of contract terms supporting booking and billings process.

• Completes month-end, quarter end and year end closing activities including billing reconciliations, revenue recognition and management reporting.

• Supports the analysis and reconciliation of receipt of cash to billings.

• Follows control procedures and interacts and supports audit requests.

• Performs regular and special analysis such as reviews of billing process including invoice review and ensuring accurate revenue recognition.

• Participates in other duties as needed to meet department objectives and company goal.

• Quantitatively inclined, results driven, innovative, adaptable, strong attention to detail

• Strong Communication Skills to effectively collaborate with people across the company

• Proven understanding of MS Excel; experience with a BI solution is a plus

• Experience with ERP Systems such as JD Edwards, Enterprise One (E1), SAP

• Experience with writing simple query statements (SQL)

• Experience with Alteryx a plus

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required

• Customer service preferred

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with a customer service focus, accounting & reporting systems, and financial/revenue analysis

• Experience with revenue transactions and ASC606 accounting guidance around revenue

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
