Description:

Position Purpose:

Provides operational leadership and day to day management of the Education and Research Department health education division through collaboration with colleagues, providers, academic institutions, and students.

Responsible for planning, implementation, evaluation, and compliance of MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center technical, undergraduate, graduate and post graduate external learners, nursing continuing education providership through the Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON), the continuing medical education (CME) providership through the Iowa Medical Society (IMS).

Provides leadership for planning, implementing, and evaluating provider, colleague and student in-service and continuing education programs for compliance with mandatory education requirements and growth and development.

What you will Do:

  • Ensures compliance with accreditation requirements for the Nursing Continuing Education (CE) providership through the Iowa Board of Nursing and the Continuing Medical Education (CME) providership through the Iowa Medical Society.

  • Maintains education course files and collects/submits data as required by the Iowa Board of Nursing and the Iowa Medical Society.

  • Provides leadership for clinical in-service, continuing education and continuing medical education programming for physicians, health care colleagues, and external learners.

  • Collaborates with Human Resources for colleague and provider orientation and mandatory education programming that meets Joint Commission accreditation standards for role-based competency and condition of employment requirements.

  • Maintains education course files.

  • Responsible for contractual services for condition of employment mandatory education and Education Affiliation Agreements with academic institutions for students other than medical, advance practice provider or pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education [formal]:

  • Bachelor's degree required, in education or health-related field preferred.

  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of successful teaching or coordinating experience and/or experience in the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of education or health care services and/or programming.

  • Progressive experiences which demonstrate success in leading and/or participating in team processes.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Special Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent collaboration, organizational, and management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills required, public speaking, presentation, and writing.

  • Ability to motivate, inspire, maintain working relationships, and develop others. Ability to be involved in multiple projects simultaneously and succeed in an environment of a competing priorities

  • High degree of initiative and judgment

  • Project management skills.

  • Strong technology skills including software ie. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and AV equipment.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.

  • May require business hours, weekends, and travel.
