Sika Maintenance Technician in Marion, Ohio

*Broad Function and Purpose of Position: * 

Set up, adjust, repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment to support the safe, efficient and productive operation of the Marion manufacturing facility; maintain buildings and grounds in good repair.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Plant Engineer and the Engineering Manager.  Is on-call nights and weekends for emergency or unscheduled repairs.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Review work orders daily for repair and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, mixers, packaging equipment, conveyor systems, and other production machines and facility equipment; estimate material requirements and repair and/or replace defective parts as needed; analyze mechanical and other operations problems and take corrective action; report all unsafe equipment, machinery, and practices to the Engineer.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other machinery parts; perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, repair supplies and other materials; obtain quotes for replacement parts and materials and prepare requisitions as needed; fabricate parts not commercially available using hand and machine tools; maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Check, clean and maintain boilers; inspect and repair boiler fittings; open valves and adjust regulators to control flow through pipelines and/or blow sludge from system.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as hand saw, planer, joiner, shaper, drill press lathe, grinder and other equipment to repair and fabricate machine parts; use all tools as instructed.
  • Install and repair electrical wiring, fixtures and equipment; measure, cut and bend wire and conduit; replace faulty electrical components including fuses, light sockets, bulbs, relays, switches and motors; rewire motors; review wiring diagrams, specifications or instructions from manager for repairs, installations or inspections to be performed.
  • Assemble, install and repair pipes, fittings and fixtures; repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment; bend, cut, thread and cut piping; shape and fabricate pipe to particular requirements of the job.
  • Alter, repair and maintain buildings, floors, ceilings, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, lights, scaffolding, etc.; maintain grounds in all seasons.
  • May perform routine repairs to heating and air conditioning systems.
  • May operate cutting torch or welding equipment to fabricate equipment by cutting, burning and joining various metals; may repair equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate gas or electric welding equipment.
  • May install, repair, calibrate, service and replace electronic devices and systems.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records of purchases, daily activities, work order status, preventive maintenance, etc.
  • Perform other work and special projects as required by manager.
