As an Analytical Chemistry Lab Chemist, you will monitor materials quality to maintain company assets and enable Fab 6 to its full productive capacity and product quality. In this role, you will provide analytical and instrumental analysis of materials in support of Micron’s production, production support, and EHS areas. Typical responsibilities for this role are to perform sample data acquisition, make and maintain laboratory solutions; maintain laboratory inventory of chemicals and supplies; perform operation and maintenance of analytical instrumentation; maintain area operations and training documentation; conduct professional interaction with customers to improve analytical effectiveness; and enable adherence to global laboratory, safety, and compliance standards.
Job Responsibilities
SAFETY
Maintain EHSS certifications
Hold all peers accountable for Micron Safety standards
Knows and follows Analytical Chemistry Lab Cleanliness Expectations that are posted in the Lab
Coordinates Lab Safety and Cleanliness activities to strengthen and maintain lab safety compliance.
Communication
Keeps the lab team informed of issues on shift and asks for help when needed to process jobs or fix equipment issues.
Provides effective communication with other areas on both positive and negative quality issues to improve learning
Drives accountability through clear communication, informal feedback and appropriate usage of metrics.
Equipment & Operations
Performs analysis and delivers results for requests submitted to the laboratory information management system queue
Shows skill of operation of Analytical Chemistry Lab tool sets
Leads teams to help troubleshoot any problems encountered
Conduct routine preventative and repair maintenance on laboratory instrumentation
Coordinate with vendors for tool fixes, maintenance contracts, and calibrations
Develops PMs on area equipment, maintains department instrument inventory and schedules shipping or onsite calibrations with suppliers
Continuous Improvement
Learns to use new equipment, analytical methods, and processes
Participates in projects for Analytical Chemistry Lab activities
Identify areas for cost savings
Develop new processes for improved detection capability and scope

Works on routine lab queue samples and projects

What Sets You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):
· Candidate must be comfortable working in a high throughput environment with minimal supervision and must possess the competence and desire to learn and adapt to changes in a dynamic technical environment
· Have proficiency working in a high throughput environment
· Flexible with job responsibilities and shift assignments - able to perform 12-hour work shift
· Possess a strong initiative for learning new methods
· Demonstrate strong mathematical skills
· Communicate with excellence both orally and in writing
· Prove their ability to identify, understand and mitigate risk before making critical decisions
· Prove their ability to accurately analyze and interpret data

· Experience in operations of the following subject areas is desirable: Titrations; Wet Bench analyses, metals analysis by ICP-OES, ICP-MS, Ion Chromatography, organic analysis by LC-MS, GC-MS
Education:
· BS degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry or related field (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Eng.).
