Job Description: TheCommercial Electrical Foremenmanages the day-to-day operations of crews on assigned electrical projects. In addition to supervisory responsibility, this position is that of a working foreman, directly performing a wide range of skilled construction tasks. Provides guidance and direction to the crew, ensuring each project's scheduled dates are met. Ensures job quality and customer satisfaction are maintained at every stage of the project. Strong relationship-building skills with clients, customers, and vendors to cultivate a positive work environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans for and supervises field crew and electrical activities - includes determining the method of construction, manpower levels, daily footage installed, material quantities, and documenting actual hours worked with a two-week look ahead.

  • Coordinates assigned work with work of different trades, company departments, or other contractors while maintaining schedule and production.

  • Directs on-site team to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule.

  • Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.

  • Assists in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.)

  • Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required:

  • 5 - 7 years of electrical experience in commercial construction or equivalent vocational training and experience.

  • Ability to successfully supervise and direct a team of 10+ workers daily.

  • Extensive knowledge of all types of electrical codes and standards associated with electrical work.

  • Previous knowledge of man-hour reports, job cost reports, and workforce planning.

  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and ability to control and supervise large groups.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of reading, interpreting, and working to: Design drawings (isometric and orthographic), design guides, and specifications.

  • Contract documents and site coordination of subcontractors

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.

  • Must be able to pass a post-offer pre-employment drug screen and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)

  • Must adhere to all company policies and procedures

  • Electrical Journeyman or Master's license in VA

The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

May work with or around typical construction materials and chemicals that require knowledge of safety data sheets.
