The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the School of Health Professions at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position in the Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin August 2024. The MAT program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), and is one of six programs within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. The mission of the MAT program is to enrich the lives of others by educating and empowering athletic training students to become confident, competent, and collaborative healthcare professionals who positively impact the patients and the communities they serve. The vision of the MAT program is to transform athletic training and sports medicine through excellence, professionalism, agility, resilience, and servant leadership. Those five core values of Excellence, Professionalism, Agility, Resilience, and Servant Leadership are central to the program and are reflected in everything we do. We are especially interested in qualified candidates whose personal mission, vision, and values align with those of the MAT program.

The successful candidate will join one of the largest programs of its kind in the world, one of the first programs ever created at a health sciences center, and one of the first athletic training programs accredited at the master's level.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the Program Director for the MAT program.

  • Teach courses in the MAT program and potentially in other programs in the department.

  • Responsible for directing all matters related to the MAT program, including maintaining CAATE accreditation, program planning and review, oversight of the program’s faculty and staff, and oversight of the program’s budget.

  • Advise MAT students.

  • Participate in scholarly activity.

  • Participate in service at the departmental, college, and university levels.

  • Demonstrate a commitment toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

  • The faculty member will work collaboratively with faculty from the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Doctor of Sciences in Rehabilitation Sciences (ScD), Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD), Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTDP), and Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Science (PhD) within the department as well as with other departments within the School of Health Professions and TTUHSC.

  • Previous experience as a program director.
