Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Quality Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring collaborative quality improvement activities performed by the Nursing Department, Ancillary Departments and the Medical Staff in order to enhance patient care. This position works closely with the VP of Quality Management to assist with Federal, State regulations compliance and accreditation standard guidelines for the facility’s clinical, medical and ancillary staff. As a member of the Quality Management Department, regularly participates in development and implementation of Performance Improvement Plans, goals and objectives. This position requires knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement. The individual needs to be able to coordinate and monitor collaborative Quality Improvement activities performed by the Nursing Department, Ancillary Departments and Medical Staff. The individual must be available for consultations regarding collaborative Quality Performance Improvement issues. Must be proficient in the recording and interpretation of minutes. Assists the Director of Administrative Quality Management with the preparation for review by the regulatory agencies. It is extremely essential to have good communication and relationships with all Hospital departments and employees. Must have some knowledge of statistics and possess varied computer skills. Will participate in any Performance Improvement Teams as requested.

  • Coordinates and completes daily (timely and accurately) concurrent review of Core Measure initiatives

  • Coordinates and completes retrospective (timely and accurately) review of Core Measures to COMET

  • Reports concurrent Core Measure review daily at Quality Huddle.

  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, case managers and other ancillary services to facilitate Core Measure Compliance and improve quality outcomes.

  • Ensure appropriate and timely communications related to Core Measures to achieve compliance.

  • Maintains expert knowledge of Core Measures, and quality initiatives to identify proactive modifications/education for improvement.

  • Maintains working knowledge of Core Measure Indicator definitions.

  • Maintains working knowledge and competency of data abstraction to COMET.

  • Completes timely IRR related to core measures.

  • Participates in other Performance Improvement initiatives as requested.

  • Completes accurate reports and presentations related to core measures and other data abstraction.

  • Prepares agenda and minutes for the Core Measures Team and other PI teams as assigned.

  • Assures that the quality improvement activities are properly documented to indicate complete statements of the studies undertaken to verify and measure results/outcomes and effectiveness.

  • Illustrates organizational skills which lead to the completion of tasks in a timely manner.

  • Brings cases for peer review that require physician review based upon criteria.

  • Communicates to the VP of Quality all activities/committees in which the Clinical Coordinator Participates. They include but are not limited to the Core Measures Outcomes Team

  • Assists the VP of Quality with compliance and implementation of current and new Local, State and Federal regulations as requested.

  • Supports and assists the VP of Quality with compliance with TJC standards and preparation for TJC survey as requested.

  • Collects and analyzes data from Core Measures.

  • Prepares peer review documents.

  • Understands and participates well in Performance Improvement.

  • Exhibits good communication skills with Physicians and Directors.

  • Prepares accurate statistical analysis of quality assurance activities for Core Measure Meetings.

  • Acts as a resource person for collaborative quality assurance issues for the facility

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

  • Associates Degree, BSN preferred

  • Current FL RN License required or recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State licensing requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)

  • Minimum of two years of nursing in acute care. Experience in data collection and analysis and performance improvement projects.

  • Ability to establish good working relationships with physicians and nurses.

  • Knowledge of Federal and State guidelines and requirements: Health Care District, Medicare, Medicaid and Department of Children and Families.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of basic PDSA
