Job Purpose/Overview

The Global In-Clinic Software Product Owner is responsible for defining user stories, refining backlogs, and gathering input from internal stakeholders and external customers to help prioritize needs into a roadmap supporting the business strategic direction. Help maintain new In-Clinic Diagnostic software and hardware. This important product will concentrate on delivering a centralized workflow driving In-clinic efficiencies. This customer-centric and technically minded role is focused on representing customer needs and prioritizing with key internal partners such as IT, Commercial, Marketing, Sales, Customer Support, etc. Collaborative, this key leader will build and grow relationships, collaboratively building roadmaps and advocating partner’s interest both internally and externally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Product Definition and Implementation:

  • Define and refine the product user stories and backlog in alignment with company objectives.

  • Analyze preferences and requests of end users.

  • Develop user stories and define acceptance criteria.

  • Set sprint goals, follow the progress of work and address identified issues during sprints.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including executive leadership, commercial, supply chain, support team, and software engineering, to shape product direction and ensure successful execution.

  • Manage expectations and negotiate priorities with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure alignment with company objectives.

Cross-Functional Team Collaboration

  • Collaborating with prospective users and stakeholders to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements.

  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages open communication, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Participate in stand-ups, refinement sessions, and demos…to ensure that sprint deliverables are met with high quality.

  • Organize and facilitate usability sessions, beta or other Voice of customer research, competitive analysis, and internal stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for product innovation and improvements.

  • Liaising with the product team and end-users to deliver updates.

Technical Acumen

  • Managing the product backlog and prioritizing them based on changing requirements.

  • Monitoring and evaluating product progress at each stage of the process.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in diagnostic software development.

  • Understand Veterinary In-clinic analyzer workflows.

  • Ensure that product development aligns with desired customer experience, architectural principles, scalability requirements, and security best practices.

  • Stay informed of the latest developments in ML/AI and drive product roadmap to incorporate the latest ML/AI models & techniques in anticipation of widespread adoption.

  • Use technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Use multiple internal (call metrics) and external sources (e.g. the voice of customers) to arrive at decisions.

Performance Metrics and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitoring and evaluating product progress at each stage of the process.

  • Help define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and team performance.

  • Leverage data-driven insights to optimize product features, prioritize roadmap items, and inform decision-making.

  • Continuously evaluate product performance, user feedback, and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or relevant experience.

  • Veterinary In-Clinic analyzer experience.

  • Product Owner or Business Analyst experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Agile trained and experienced.

  • Azure Dev. Ops proficient.

  • General knowledge/experience in the healthcare and diagnostic industries.

  • Demonstrated experience in product management, including development, segmentation, positioning, pricing, and forecasting.

  • Solid reasoning and analytical skills to resolve issues and perform prioritization exercises.

  • Solid analytical skills

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office

  • This position would also require managing external customer relationships and travel both domestically and internationally (up to 20%)

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Travel

Working Conditions

The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations, and communicate with people in an office environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment including the use of cubicles, computers, and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, database management, email, and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.

The Target Pay Range for this position is $107,800 - $125,000 annually. At Mars, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
