Position Description

Responsible for all aspects of Engineering to support the E-Coat facility achieve the goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. Responsible for the management of the plant capital improvement projects. Provides technical support for problem solving in the daily operations and equipment maintenance. Manages the improvement cycle and project management for all new products or processes.

Provide technical support for all processes in the E-coat facility helping the plant achieve the SQDC and growth goals. Provides support to the maintenance team to achieve the highest level of OEE, support for 8020, and continuous improvement activities. Leads the capital project management and program management for all new products or processes. The position is responsible for researching innovative technologies and opportunities to continually improve all aspects of the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Technical Support
    • Provides technical support to the maintenance team when needed.
    • Assist in the development of equipment technical specifications for all existing and new equipment.
  • 80/20 and Continuous improvement
    • Provide technical support and root cause analysis techniques to the 8D process - updating PFMEA when risks are identified
    • Utilize 80/20 methodology in all projects to ensure we are focused on the correct priorities
    • Utilize lean practices in all projects or troubleshooting activities
    • Identifies, evaluates, and provides justification for new equipment, processes or techniques to improve plant performance in both SQDC and Environmental goals - with focus on process water reclamation.
    • Value Add, Value Engineer support for continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities in the plants
  • New Product / Process Introduction and Engineering Change Management
    • Utilizes Modine's APQP program management for all new products or processes and all engineering changes developing the project timelines, financials, goals and managing risks that are identified.
    • Interact with cross-functional teams to develop cost estimates, project timelines, and project goals
    • Plan and manage prototype builds and validation testing to ensure the new product goals have been met
    • Maintain project financials within approved expenditures and be accountable for cost overruns requiring justification and approval for additional expenditures
    • Problem resolution for capital projects, production programs, and new launches
    • Developing and publishing equipment technical specifications for all existing and new equipment.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Three to five years' experience in a similar position.
  • Other specific requirements include but are not limited to:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfortable leading and working with cross-functional teams
  • Utilizing data to drive decisions
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software systems
  • Experience with APQP process
  • Root cause analysis training
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Strong mechanical and electrical understanding and aptitude for hands-on design and problem solving.
  • Familiar with control systems, PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Experience in racking and/or tooling designs
  • E-coat or other coating/painting experience desired
  • Experience in automated paint or production lines a plus
  • Familiar with LEAN production methodology
