Jacobs Project Procurement Manager in Los Angeles, California

As a Project Procurement Manager (PPM) for our Design Build- Water team, you will be responsible for all Purchasing and Subcontracting on major projects which are of high importance to Jacobs based on client relationship, inherent challenges, or strategic importance to the business.

Leverage your knowledge and understanding of procurement concepts, principles and practices, and the techniques of ensuring task completion with you as you lead Procurement efforts on our most challenging projects. A PPM thoroughly understands the role of procurement and its integration with other project functions, accomplishes value-added expectations, and performs assignments in accordance with established policies and procedures. Most importantly, the PPM has advanced knowledge of a subject area or commodity which they are contracting for.

The PPM reports to the Director of Subcontracts and Procurement for B&I Americas. While supporting Jacobs’ projects, the PPM will work closely to the assigned Project Manager.

Some of the Responsibilities:

  • As an overall Project Procurement Lead, perform upfront procurement planning activities such as drafting Project Procurement Plan and establishing purchasing and subcontract strategies. and

  • As an overall Project Procurement Lead, working with the Estimating and Engineering project teams in developing project specific procurement strategies. This typically includes, package assignments and priorities, eliminating obstacles, supporting the interface with Jacobs and Client management.

  • As an overall Project Procurement Lead, use critical thinking and problem solving to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the project’s procurement efforts

  • Purchasing assignments typically will consist of major purchases of complex, critical or high-risk materials and equipment

  • Subcontracting assignments typically will consist of professional or technical services, and major or complex construction services on larger projects, or assignment as the Subcontracts Manager for all subcontracting on a medium to large size project

  • Utilizes established policies, procedures, systems, and tools

  • Manages the procurement of goods/subcontracted services and administers purchase orders/ procurement agreements and change orders (modifications) to accomplish project or group objectives and obligations

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, construction, supply chain, or operations management field, or equivalent project experience in lieu of degree.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering and/or capital construction purchasing, contracting, expediting, supplier quality management and material management.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Experience using MS Office tools, including intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.

  • A drive to solve complex and challenging problems.

  • A desire to manage a team of procurement professionals through demonstrated inspirational leadership.
