Overview Utah State University seeks an experienced, highly professional ,and strategic leader to oversee the Native American Cultural Center. The Director will work collaboratively with other stakeholders across USU and in the community to advance access, mentorship, and support for students as well as elevate campus and community outreach, engagement ,and partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership and administrative supervision for all NACC programs.
  • Leads the staff in mapping out center priorities in alignment with USU's vision and mission of inclusive excellence, access, and empowerment of all people to lead successful lives of involvement, innovation, and impact.
  • Reviews center physical and human resource capacity and provides timely communication to the supervisor.
  • In collaboration with other campus stakeholders, implements and monitors professional learning opportunities/programs designed to ensure a sense of belonging for students, faculty, and staff, and enhance a culture of inclusiveness, social responsibility, and intercultural understanding.
  • Directs and guides day-to-day operations and center initiatives including budgeting, grants, and scholarship management.
  • Ensures appropriate distribution of center responsibilities, and maintains appropriate records and information that are essential for the effective and efficient service to students, staff, faculty, and others that might visit the center.
  • Collaborates with other campus stakeholders to effectively train, support, coach, and mentor student leaders.
  • Ensures timely and accurate communications of NACC activities/programs to the university community.
  • Maintains a departmental handbook on policies, and procedures in alignment with USU policies; reviews and evaluates areas of opportunities and communicates challenges to the supervisor.
  • Generates, analyzes, and responds to reports on programmatic goals, objectives, and outcomes and files them as needed.
  • Maintains NACC advisory board communications, (craft quarterly agendas, and maintain a record of meeting minutes).
  • Composes and distributes monthly reports to the supervisor and publishes annual center reports for distribution to campus and external partners.
  • Assists in inter-departmental initiatives as needed.
  • Collaborates with the other departments (i.e., admissions, orientation, inclusion center, academic support specialists, registrar, success coaches, academic advisors, etc.) to provide guidance and support to ensure student success, satisfaction and enhance a sense of belonging.
  • Partners with other departments to promote campus social, and cultural events that foster a positive and enriching inclusive campus climate.
