Performs entry level animal ordinance enforcement duties. Patrols streets for stray domestic or wild animals. Captures and confines stray animals. Responds to public complaints regarding animals. Issues citation and impounds animals. Issues licenses for animals. Picks up injured animals. Investigates theft or slaughter cases. Transports animals to shelter.

Education and Experience: 

Graduation from high school and certified or certifiable Special Functions Officer in the State of Utah  AND Experience in field closely related to these duties preferred                                    OR   An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of: humane apprehension and care of animals, physical and behavioral characteristics of animals, humane and safe procedures for animal euthanasia, and ability to accurately enter data into a computer and write/print legibly.

 Skills and Abilities: ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination skills, effectively communicate and negotiate with emotionally upset or hostile animal owners or complainants. Ability to operate animal control vehicles and all related equipment, prioritize, organize, and carry out work assignments, read, interpret, and implement animal control ordinances, and learn and implement County and contract-city ordinances and laws.

Must be able to move objects weighing up to 75 lbs.

Must possess valid driver's license.
