Description We are seeking a Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team based in Buffalo, New York. This role is central to the Finance department, contributing to the overall efficiency of the company's operations. As a Sr. Cost Accountant, you will primarily focus on advanced cost accounting analyses, assisting in the development and maintenance of product standard costs, inventory reconciliation, and providing financial support to the Operations team. This role offers a contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain product standard costs during the budget process and throughout the year • Collaborate with Operations team to maintain accurate inventory costing and counts, including implementation and maintenance of a cycle count process • Conduct monthly reconciliation of inventory and associated reporting • Review inventory balances quarterly for potential obsolescence and prepare capitalization of variances entry • Provide finance support to Operations team including capital expense support, fixed and variable cost analysis, understanding cost variances, and scheduling • Maintain fixed asset records, track capital spend, and report on projects once completed • Reconcile accounts as assigned • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities to help ensure the Finance Department produces timely and accurate financial information to the business • Participate in ad hoc projects as required within the Finance Department

Skills: • Proficiency in CapEx, DCAA, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP Solutions, Hyperion Technologies, About Time, Accounting Functions, Budget Processes, Cost Accounting, Costing • Ability to work well with multi-departmental teams • Excellent analytical and organizational skills • Effective communication, including writing, speaking and active listening • Ability to manage confidential information • Thorough understanding of accounting procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as financial reporting software tools and ERP software Requirements • Proficiency in CapEx and DCAA regulations

• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions

• Proficiency in Hyperion Technologies and About Time software

• Solid understanding of accounting functions

• Experience with budget processes and cost accounting

• Knowledge of costing methodologies

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred

• Experience in a senior accounting or financial management role

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
