JOB SUMMARY

Assists in preparing patients for various treatments. Transports patient to and from the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. Performs routine tasks to free Registered Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants for attention to professional duties.

PERFORMANCE DUTIES

  • Prepare patients for treatment

  • Assisting patient to dress, undress, and move about.

  • Assemble and place equipment and supplies for use.

  • Prepare hydrotherapy tanks.

  • Time treatments and perform other routine duties.

  • Change linens and beds and treatment tables.

  • Store linens and supplies.

  • Maintain equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Notify receptionist when supplies are running low or any malfunction of equipment.

  • May perform routine standard procedures of patient treatments as outlined and approved by the physical therapist:

  • Follows established procedure and observes safety precautions in application and use of heat, cold, light, water, ultrasound, and massage.

  • Supervise exercise and ambulation activities.

  • Observe and report to his supervisor the conditions, reactions, and responses of patients as relates to assigned.

  • May be responsible for assuring that patient medical claim data used for billing purposes accurately reflects the clinical care provided by the patient care department by:

  • Acquire and maintain a complete understanding of department charges, charge order sets, department CDM and charge capture processes.

  • Perform charge capture on a daily basis (same as date of service).

  • Perform charge reconciliation on a daily and monthly basis.

  • Assists with the identification and investigation of variances between Cerner and HealthQuest and ensure a timely resolution of issues.

  • Demonstrate competence on applicable software system(s) and how to access, retrieve and print reports from Quest/Vista.

  • Obtain, review and assist with the correction of errors per error report(s) or upon request.

  • Refer to the Department Charge Management Manual for authoritative and department specific processes and timelines

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

A.Education

  • High School graduation, including courses in biological sciences preferred.

B.Job Knowledge

  • Must have knowledge of physical therapy equipment and its use.

  • Must have knowledge and experience with computers.

  • Must be familiar with the organization, procedures, and hospital regulations.

C.Licensure - none

D.Training and Experience

  • Some hospital attendant experience desirable.

  • On-the-job training in use of various equipment, and in department methods and procedures
