Enterprise Technology is looking for a hands-on, dynamic Technical Leader who can lead the team that provides holistic Infrastructure Architecture Strategy and Consulting Guidance to operations and software delivery teams. We seek a highly motivated, technology-focused individual passionate about improving and simplifying Ford’s highly complex global infrastructure environment across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), on-premises data centers, and distributed locations in all major regions.

As the Senior Cloud Architect , you will provide day-to-day leadership of a technical team responsible for architecting key cloud-native infrastructure, computing, database, network, storage, and interoperability.

What you’ll be able to do:

  • You will work with Technology & Software Platform teams to define the architecture for cloud infrastructure across the Ford Enterprise, including hosting, computing, databases, and networks.

  • You will be responsible for understanding enterprise needs and defining technical architecture solutions that modernize Ford Motor Company’s patterns and standards for use in the cloud.

  • Responsible for strategic analysis and evaluation to create the enterprise standard technology stack offerings available to application teams.

  • Define, analyze, assemble, and integrate components to deliver infrastructure patterns for the business, including consideration for platforms, software, availability, scalability, and reliability.

  • Partner with IT Operations teams in technology evaluation and guide teams in creating, documenting, and communicating architecture principles.

  • Participate in emerging tech trends and provide emerging trends review.

  • Supports the development of the technical design and documentation.

  • Participate in strategy development and requirements analysis.

  • Maintain open channels of communication by providing relevant information, technical expertise, and recommended best practices and patterns.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • 7 years of experience in IT or Technology-related disciplines with progressively increasing responsibility.

  • 5+ Experience working with cloud-native (Azure, PCF, AWS, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments such as researching the best use of cloud products and the ecosystem, then providing technical and strategic insights to a product team as well as defining guidelines for development teams and infrastructure platform teams

  • 5+ years of Experience in Kubernetes in a development, administration, and/or architect capacity.

  • Develop Proof of Concepts and Documents and present the solution to Architects and Product Development Teams.

Our preferred requirements:

  • Advanced degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Technical Leader shaping future architecture across compute, storage, database, network, interoperability, and security aspects.

  • Behavioral Leadership (ability to handle difficult situations and establish links with others)

  • Supervisory experience, including building or expanding teams.

  • Experience in defining and aligning to SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs.

  • Demonstrated ability to set strategy on future technology stacks and maturing the stack for wider adoption at the Enterprise Level

  • Experience collaborating with technology teams in the design, development, and deployment of digital products.

  • Ability to develop strong working relationships across multiple Architect teams.

  • Ability to thrive in complexity and make tradeoffs between competing priorities.

  • Strong knowledge of Visio and/or other Project Technical Artifact creation tools and diagrams

  • Willing to work in a highly collaborative environment spread across the US, EU, China, Australia, India, and elsewhere, and across internal organizations with different focus areas.

  • Experience working globally, and with multiple vendors to bring together cohesive strategies.

  • Good team building, organizational, and time-management skills

  • Proactive attitude and the courage to ask questions.

  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to adjust messages to deeply technical audiences or senior business leaders.

  • A curiosity towards new technologies that may benefit the entire organization and a strong desire to learn.

  • Possess GCP Certification with one of the following: Google Cloud Digital Leader, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, and/or Google Cloud Network Engineer

  • Preferably CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), CKD (Certified Kubernetes Developer) or Openshift Certified
