Performs entry-level transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Work includes maintaining inventory and records of signs and materials and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and standard practices and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.Essential Duties:District Sign Tech I:Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditionsMoves equipment, tools, materials, and products.Issues signs to maintenance sections/transportation crews; uses tools and equipment and moves signs and related materials.Maintains expense records and inventory of materials, supplies and equipmentMixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these duties.Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs.Operates radiosPerforms and maintains inventory of signsRepairs and installs signs, supports, foundations, and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. District Sign Tech II:The above and:Orders supplies and materials from district shopOrders signs from the regional sign shopConducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers (RPMs).Inspects roadways to identify sign and delineator deficiencies and recommend repairs.
