Description:

The Surgical Technician (OR TECH) under the supervision of an Operating Room Registered Nurse, assists in providing nursing care to a designated population in collaboration with the members of the health care team.

  • Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping etc.

  • demonstrates proper scrubbing skills, handles, and passes instrumentation utilizing aseptic technique and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.

  • Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.

  • Collaborates with circulating nurse in room preparation, selecting supplies, and equipment is organized fashion.

  • Creates, maintains, and monitors the sterile field continuously.

  • Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition.

  • Assess and responds appropriately in an emergency situation to prioritize and meets the patients’ immediate needs.

  • Acts as a patient advocate and protect the patient’s rights through safe and ethical practice.

  • Demonstrates safe, proper, and appropriate use of sterilizers.

Minimum Qualifications:

HS Diploma or equivalency

Certified Surgical Technician

1-2 years experience
