Lancaster General Health Financial Analyst (40 hours/week) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

POSITION SUMMARY: The Financial Analyst supports the team to provide a broad range of financial support services to administrative and executive leadership of Lancaster General Health. Assists in preparation of Hospital financial budget, monthly analysis of variances to budget, labor performance and departmental financial reporting.

HOURS: 40 hours/week with flexible hours between 7:00am-5:00pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Generates monthly reporting packages distributed to managers, directors, and executives. Analyze and monitor variance explanations.

  • Provides support and education to departments in understanding budget vs. actual variances.

  • Independently perform department and patient level analysis including variance analysis comparing budget/prior year to actual results and benchmarks.

  • Collects data, identifies good and bad data and develops an action plan to cleanse data as needed. Structures an approach to data analysis and a solution hypothesis.

  • Recognizes the need to make assumptions; documents and presents assumptions to the team along with findings.

  • Able to use appropriate tools, internal and external databases to support analyses and benchmarking.

  • Assists in preparation of the financial budget as it relates to operating expense and revenue budgets.Works with departments Hospital-wide to obtain budget data. Communicates to Management regarding issues that may impact the budget.

  • Completes special projects as requested by leadership.

  • Manages and documents cost center responsibility and applicable reporting. Works with Information Services to maintain access.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Maintain process for sharing benchmarking results and dashboards.

  • Seeks individual development opportunities and contributes to team development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong communication skills, ability to question freely, and work with all levels of management and clinicians.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two (2) years budgeting experience and variance analysis.

  • One (1) year of general accounting, budgeting or financial analysis experience.
