ABB INC Associate Hardware Project Engineer in Lakewood, Ohio

Part of the Engineering team in Process Automation Energy Industries in the USA, the Associate Project Engineer assists in designing engineering solutions, including preparing drawings, calculations, bills of materials, engineering instructions and processes. In this role, you will create or modify pre-engineered designs for equipment, systems or installations by applying standard design concepts. This is a position with global grade 15 This position reports to Production Supervisor Your responsibilities Work as part of an integrated design team to meet project requirements and deliverables Design automation enclosures and establish system cabinet assembly requirements: cabinet arrangement drawings, power distribution drawings, wire list (typically Excel type format), external connection drawings, cable list and routing database Certify equipment outline drawings, power consumption and cooling requirements for ABB provided equipment Generate the necessary system orders for ABB equipment and/or purchase orders for third party equipment and periodically monitor their delivery status Create, deliver and update the Assembly Data Package Verify the work performed by assembly shops Staging, inspecting, and testing ABB and third party equipment Assembly of system control and HMI equipment cabinets Documentation of hardware and firmware revision levels Functional testing of automation enclosures before shipment Documentation and delivery of proper forms confirming system completion and conformity with established quality documents Your background Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology Prefer a minimum of 1 year of experience in control panel design Occasional local travel is required Knowledge and/or experience in control system hardware Strong interpersonal skill to communicate and work with diverse discipline project teams Ability to learn new methods and technologies Attention to detail Proficient in standard workstation tools: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) AutoCAD Candidates must be able to read, write and speak English fluently Position will be based in Cleveland, OH Reimbursement for relocation is not available Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US Benefits Retirement plan Life insurance Disability insurance Healthcare plan Wellbeing program More about us ABB Energy Industries is enabling safe, smart and sustainable projects and operations for businesses across the oil, gas, chemicals, life sciences, power generation and water sectors.
