Position Overview

The Director of Sales and Marketing for Independent Living combines a hands-on approach with coaching, training, and motivating a sales team. This position maintains or exceeds budgeted occupancy using sales and marketing strategies which encourage applications and move-ins to the community.

Essential Functions

  • Monitors marketing productivity on monthly basis to ensure team is achieving minimum number of calls, appointments and deposits and prepares monthly report of key metrics for executive director, chief operating officer and vice president of marketing.

  • Responsible for performance evaluations for the campus Marketing Department as well as hiring, department orientation, performance improvement plans.

  • Presents a review of Marketing Department Objectives, Strategies and Tactics at monthly sales meeting with the Executive Director, chief operating officer and vice president of marketing.

  • Develop, recommend and maintain policies and procedures for inquiries, admissions, and assignment of residences.

  • Respond in a timely and effective way to all inquiries for residency.

  • Follow-up with prospects as often as necessary to facilitate a decision to move-in.

  • Respond to requests for presentations from community groups.

  • Evaluate medical applications for appropriateness and work closely with medical staff to verify qualifications.

  • Evaluate financial applications for appropriateness to verify qualifications.

  • Schedule appointments for tours and presentations.

  • Achieve productivity standards as outlined in the Corporate Sales Productivity Report.

  • Coach and monitor staff to insure productivity standards are met.

  • Coach staff and/or arrange for any necessary sales training.

  • Plan and execute events that introduce prospective residents to the community lifestyle.

  • Work with executive director and vice president of marketing to establish budgetary requirements.

  • Works with executive director and vice president of marketing to establish an annual sales and marketing plan for the community.

    Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in marketing, communications or related field of study.

  • Five or more years of sales experience. Experience in senior’s housing a plus.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be organized and goal oriented. Patience and a genuine desire to problem solve is a plus.
