Part-Time (ALL) shifts available 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am

$20.00 - $24.00 (Salary based on years of experience)

Plus Shift Differentials for 2nd and 3rd shift & Weekend Differentials for all shifts!

Essential Functions

  • Carries out nursing care within the scope of education/training and ability, and in accordance with the principles of resident centered care, as assigned by unit nurses.

  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of Presbyterian Homes and the standards of care of the Nursing Department.

  • Guard residents' rights.

  • Communicates effectively with residents, families, co-workers, supervisors, other employees, and visitors. Interact with residents to meet their social and recreational needs.

  • Uses good interpersonal skills in establishing a relationship with residents.

  • Assists residents with activities of daily living as needed.

  • Gives direct care to residents, including but not limited to showers and baths, oral hygiene, hair and skin care, feeding, enemas, ostomy care, catheter, and perineal care.

  • Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure), height and weight, measures and records intake and output.

  • Reports changes in a resident's condition, behavior, appearance, or vital signs to the nurse in a timely manner.

  • Practices sound rehabilitation techniques with residents, including but not limited to active and passive range of motion exercises, transfers, positioning, ambulation, and bowel and bladder training.

  • Utilizes standard precautions in giving resident care.

  • Answers call light promptly and makes rounds at scheduled intervals.

  • Participate in the set-up and delivery of meals, supplements, snacks, and refreshments.

  • Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens.

  • Transports residents to therapies, activities, and appointments.

  • Completes resident care records as required.

  • Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge.

  • Participate in care plan conferences.

  • Participates in staff development programs and unit meetings.

  • Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment.

  • Seeks guidance and supervision when appropriate.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by a unit nurse.

  • Daily use of all computer systems is provided by Presbyterian Homes in support of care and service to residents/patients, and to support administrative responsibilities. Attend all facility software classes to maintain computer skills. Demonstrates skills to staff and leads by encouraging others to use computer resources.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Current Certification as nurse's aide with the Illinois Department of Public Health

  • Long-term care experience preferred but not required.

  • Able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English. Ability to do simple arithmetic. Good communication skills. Interest in working with older adults. General knowledge of the needs of geriatric patients.

  • CPR certification is highly recommended.
