Responsibilities

The Cardiac Rehab Nurse Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice for inpatient and outpatient cardiac patients. The Cardiac Rehab Nurse communicates with physicians about changes in the patient's clinical condition when needed. The RN manages theefficient flowof patient activity during cardiac rehab sessions,oversees monitoring and response to exerciseand initiates emergency procedures according to policy. Provideseducation and counsel patientsand families regarding medication,identifying risk factorsanddeveloping life-style modificationspertaining tocardiac diseaseand related health issues. Responsible for initialassessments and assists in individual treatment plans(ITP), participation in performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Possess knowledge of ACC/AHA guidelines related to heart failure and acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards of the (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation AACVPR) and hospital or unit policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Current and valid state RN License.

  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

  • ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

  • PALS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

  • Previous acute care hospital experience; preferred.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
