We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Plant Operator I for our Onshore Resources & Carbon Management, Texas EOR asset. This position will be located in Jayton, TX at our Salt Creek Gas Plant.
The Plant Operator I will monitor equipment, make adjustments to process controls, take routine readings, performing preventive and minor maintenance, troubleshoot operational problems, perform lab tests, and handle paperwork associated with regulatory permitting in order to improve plant system operation/uptime and reduce total operating costs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitors and controls plant operations.
- Constantly reviews the operation of the plant to monitor production and quality, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Participates in projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Maintains adequate records of key production variables such as production volume, yield, plant uptime, utility consumption, etc. on a daily, weekly, and/ monthly basis, as required
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors for all activities.
- Responsible for equipment lock/tagout for maintenance and repairs
- Recognizes equipment abnormalities. Communicates with maintenance regarding significant repairs.
- Communicates directly with the maintenance department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas
- Performs preventive maintenance activities as required.
- Assists maintenance technicians in performing maintenance and repairs.
- Assists with diagnosing and trouble-shooting process related issues.
- Able to understand problems and develop effective solutions
- Responsible for ensuring proper flows, temperatures, pressures, and levels. Recognizes operating deviations and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Ability to operate plant processes using a DCS control system, preferably Delta V
Responsible for recording of parameter values, completion of operating reports, notification of environmental deviations, and equipment lockout/tag-out for maintenance and repair.
Qualifications
- At least High School grad or G.E.D.
- 3 years oilfield experience preferred, with a responsible attitude for personal safety and the safety of co-workers, contractors & the public
- Ability to work 12 hour, rotating shifts
- Basic knowledge of plant processes
- Ability to follow written operating procedures
- Basic knowledge of OSHA 1910.119
- Capable of performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs on all required plant equipment
- Ability to efficiently and effectively monitor plant equipment and make adjustments to processes and controls
- Ability to troubleshoot operational problems
- Ability to handle upsets, startups, and shutdowns of plant systems and processes
- Knowledge of DCS systems (Delta V and Wonderware)
- Ability to perform lab tests such as cooling tower and R/O unit water tests and SRU chemical tests
- Good computer skills, along with ability to input data into CMMS system (Maximo)
- Good communication and excellent interpersonal skills
