    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.

  • The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

  • This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.

  • As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

  • Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

    NOTE

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND

  • Two years of basic experience involving electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning systems, or structural and architectural systems

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull.

  • Must be capable of climbing a ladder and using a hi-lift to 40 feet.

  • Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. or more.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures proper maintenance and repair of base Electrical systems to include but not limited to:

  • Performing maintenance and repair on all building electrical system to include indoor and outdoor lighting systems, 120- and 480-volt receptacles, electrical distribution panels and secondary electrical feeders to the facilities. (Installs additional systems as required)

  • Maintaining, installing, perform inspections, and testing of all building, aircraft parking ramp and equipment grounding systems

  • Maintaining and performing inspections on all base lightening protection systems

  • Performing inspections on all base Fire protection and alarm systems

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing sinks, showers, sanitary plumbing fixtures, and base fire protection systems

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing sanitary sewer systems and lift stations

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing potable water distribution systems

  • Assists in the maintenance, installation, and repair of the base irrigations systems

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing heat pumps systems, air conditioning systems, chiller systems and thermostats control systems

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing electrical, boiler and propane heating systems

  • Maintaining, fabricating, installing, and repairing HVAC duct systems and damper controls

  • Maintains, trouble shoots and repairs the bases (METASYS) environmental control system

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing roof top ventilation systems and associated hardware

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing roll-up door systems, personnel entry doors, folding wall partitions, lock systems, hanger door systems, building ladder systems, hoists, roofing systems (standing seam metal and Modified Bitumen), gutters and down spouts, awnings, and window systems

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing of structural steel buildings, Stucco, brick, block masonry systems and concrete tilt up panel systems and structural coatings

  • Maintaining, installing, and repairing perimeter fencing systems, manual and motorized gate systems

  • Ensures proper use, maintenance and repair of shop equipment and portable power tools to include but not limited to:

  • Table saws, drill press, band saw, belt sanders, Pipe threading machines, grinders, Freon recovery systems and all other assigned tools and equipment

  • Ensures all assigned tools are accounted for at all times.

  • Ensures that all applicable safety requirements and procedures are followed 100% of the times

  • Maintains records and performs all other assigned duties:

  • Responsible for maintaining maintenance work orders and equipment records

  • Perform all other duties assigned by the State Maintenance Supervisor to include but not limited to; assisting janitorial staff, ground keepers and Maintenance mechanics in their assigned duties, cutting grass, clearing ditch lines, and picking up trash and debris around base as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or mechanical repair work

  • Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work

  • Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work

  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions

  • Ability to read blueprints

  • Ability to install, maintain and repair electric motors, generators, and other mechanical equipment

  • Ability to take accurate measurements

  • Ability to follow instructions

  • Ability to conduct air conditioning and heating repairs

  • General electrical knowledge for wiring, replacing ballast, and install new electrical circuits

  • Knowledge with small engines and motor repairs

  • Must be able to make judgment calls on his/her own when out in the field in regards to maintenance repairs

  • Ability to work on own and must work well with other team members and supervisor
