SME Senior Building Enclosures Engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana

The Opportunity:

A Senior Building Enclosures Engineer will work within the Building Enclosures team within our Building Materials Service group and will assist with design, evaluation, investigation and rehabilitation of new and existing buildings.

Responsibilities:

  1. Knowledge:Applying engineering principles, physics and materials science to the exterior enclosure of buildings to make them durable, energy-efficient able to reliably resist air and water infiltration. Analyze field data, perform research, review modern and historic construction documents and reference governing codes to help develop repair design.
  2. Research:Perform hands-on-forensic investigations, condition assessments, and construction observations, which may include surveying, documenting distress, field testing, and collecting data and samples.
  3. Deliverables:Draft and prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final client deliverables including various construction documents, specifications and written reports.
  4. Independence:Assume responsibility for key aspects of projects and complete assignments with limited oversight, under the guidance of licensed professionals.
  5. Communication:Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Good organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  6. Collaboration:Interface with internal and external project teams, clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
  7. Safety:Exemplify safe work practices and follow the companys compliance standards.

Core Competencies:

  • Has competency using computer operating systems and MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and supervisors, conveying technical information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage workloads, maintain accurate and detailed record-keeping skills, documenting field observations, safety concerns, and problem resolutions.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and team members, fostering positive working relationships, customer-centric approach to provide excellent service to clients, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Must be able to understand and adapt to change and react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions.
  • Basic construction competencies including ability to determine location from surface features and landmarks by interpretation from surveys, road maps, aerial photos, topographic maps, and geologic maps; understanding construction stakes set by others, and color markings of utility companies.
  • Has a general aptitude for identifying and resolving complex technical problems in the field, utilizing critical thinking and logical reasoning.
  • Demonstrates ethical conduct, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring safety and security in all aspects of work, strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines, fostering a safe working environment for yourself and others.
