Ascension Health Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor - Westfield Washington Elementary Schools in Indianapolis, Indiana

Hours for this position will vary but will be Monday-Friday and generally fall within the hours of 7am and 5pm.

This is a year round position.

Location will be within one or more Westfield Washington Elementary Schools (grades K thru 4) and is subject to change related to overall need across all schools.

Responsibilities

Provide behavioral health counseling services.

  • Conduct patient assessments and establish therapy treatment goals.

  • Administer individual and group therapy. Maintain thorough and confidential records of observations.

  • Evaluate progress and effectiveness of therapy interventions.

  • Provide patient with information regarding resources and therapeutic activities in the community.

  • Work directly with the patient, family, physician and community providers to ensure active and collaborate care from the initiation of treatment to the time of discharge.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:

  • Licensed Counselor specializing in Mental Health credentialed from the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Licensed Counselor specializing in Clinical Addiction credentialed from the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Licensed Social Worker specializing in Clinical Practice credentialed from the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Licensed Therapist specializing in Marriage & Family credentialed from the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field required.

Additional Preferences

Eligible candidates must have a master’s in counseling, Social Work, or another related mental health field and must have a clinical license LMHC, LCAC, LMFT, or LCSW.

This position will be working as a full time outpatient counselor within Westfield Washington Schools, most likely working in Westfield Elementary School.

Eligible candidates should have a preferred 2 years of experience providing mental health therapy including specific experience working with youth patients.

The licensed counselor will provide behavioral health assessment and mental health services to students in a school-based setting.

The licensed counselor also will work collaboratively with behavioral skills specialists, school social workers, nurses, and prescribers to provide a holistic model of care to Carmel students.

Due to contracted support by the school district, ample time is built into our counselor’s schedule for administrative time, parent outreach, documentation, professional development, etc. 40 hours per week, flexible within school location hours.

This is a year round school-based position.

Responsibilities for this role:

  • Conduct patient diagnostic assessments and establish therapy treatment goals.

  • Administer individual therapy. Maintain thorough and confidential records of observations.

  • Evaluate progress and effectiveness of therapy interventions.

  • Provide students and families with information on needed resources and therapeutic support in the community.

  • Consult & collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including behavioral health technicians, school social workers, nurses, prescribers, teachers, team leaders, and other peer counselors to provide a holistic model of care focused on functional outcomes for students and families.

  • Work directly with the student, parent, family, and community providers as needed to support active and collaborative care.

  • Due to the reimbursement model, services provided are determined by the focus and need of the patient and the diagnostic determination of the licensed counselor.
