MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma or its equivalent.

Possession of a valid Driver License.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Surveys commercial citrus groves for the presence of citrus disease symptoms.

  • Travels is state assigned vehicle to remote survey areas.

  • Walks or rides in all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) throughout the survey areas.

  • Accurately report locations of trees that express symptoms.

  • Assists with the collection of plant materials as samples to be sent to the pathology lab for identification.

  • Accurately complete surveys and enter information into the ESRI Program.

  • Cooperates as a team player in the daily functions of their assigned crew and field station.

  • Accurately completes time and attendance reports, vehicle maintenance reports, and survey reports.

  • Completes daily cleaning of work units (vehicle, ATV, and trailer).

  • Other related duties as directed by supervisor.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Department decontamination procedures.

  • Knowledge of citrus diseases and their symptoms.

  • Knowledge of survey section’s goals, strategies, policies, and procedures.

  • Skill in completing and maintaining accurate records.

  • Skill in performing basic math.

  • Skill in basic computing.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to identify citrus varieties.

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. and bend repetitiously.

  • Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and humid environments.

  • Ability to walk on uneven ground and in inclement weather.

  • Ability to interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Ability to read and draw basic maps, and to locate properties using street and geographic maps.
