SUMMARY

The Grant Program Coordinator provides professional assistance to the department of Pediatrics - Research in the areas of account reconciliation, grant review, grant coordination, effort reporting and financial reporting on grants and contracts funding sources. The position will also assist with protocol maintenance (i.e.,. coverage determination review, patient remuneration process, invoicing, etc.).

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Pre-Award Assists faculty with grant preparation and submission of sponsored projects and other proposal preparation items as needed. Works with administrative staff to ensure biosketches and other support documentation is current and accurate. Tracks proposal status. Responsible for input in CLICK, RCTS, and other systems as necessary per proposal and institutional guidelines.

Post-Award -Provides comprehensive management of sponsored projects and multi-project awards including P01s, R01s, R21s, U54s, T32s, IRGs, cooperative group and private industry agreements. -Reviews and reconciles grant expenditures to ensure adherence with institution, state, local and federal guidelines. Assists with effort reporting and certification process on a quarterly basis. -Responsible for post award reconciliation and other fiscal activities as needed. -Develops and maintains centralized grants and contracts records/filing system including copies of grants and awards (to include tracking grant submissions); policies and procedures affecting the submission, review, approval, contract negotiation, activation, regulation, and reporting of grant applications. -Responsible for submission of request for salary waiver, no cost extensions (NCEs), progress report submissions, and other grant and/or contract related documents. -Responsible for sponsored project (grants and clinical trial agreements); invoicing through PeopleSoft in collaboration with financial analyst.

Effective Communication: Manage communication and negotiate financial and resource support for grants and contracts; serve as department contact with principal investigators within MD Anderson, outside academic institutions, and grantor organizations; and serve as department's expert on grant related matters.

Experience Required: Two years of extensive administrative experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis.

Preferred Experience: Three years of experience in a professional/administrative capacity with two years of experience in clinical research, accounting, finance or grant administration. RCTS and Click grants and PeopleSoft grant portal experience. Requires the ability to use good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, work independently, and handle complex issues in a large, diverse research department. Must demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel, Access, and PowerPoint as well as be able to master
