Ideal candidate will have at least five years of clinical nursing experience to include three years of oncology nursing. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, a Master's Degree in a healthcare field and certification in quality or specialty focused area.

Function:

Serves as a clinical nursing expert in various modalities. Assesses patient care and the clinical competency of nurses and provides education, development and quality improvement initiatives for a department.

Scope:

Impacts the clinical competency of the nursing staff.

Essential Job Functions:

Assesses patient care provided in a variety of patient care areas and clinical competency of nursing staff. In collaboration with area management and the nursing educator, designs tools and methodologies to identify needs and gaps in knowledge, skills and competencies of nursing staff. Provides educational opportunities to the nursing staff which fosters professional growth, strengthens problem solving and critical thinking skills. Incorporates oncology nursing standards, and institutional policy and procedures into practice. Evaluates outcome driven interventions. Collaborates with staff and the interdisciplinary team to improve patient care. Participates in organizational initiatives directed at improving clinical practice and patient outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Master's Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in a healthcare related field.

Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing with a quality concentration.

Experience

Required: Five years of clinical nursing experience to include three years of oncology nursing experience. With preferred degree, three years of oncology nursing.

Preferred: Five years of oncology nursing experience.

Licensure/ Certification

Required: All of the following:

Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).

Certification in quality or specialty focused area.

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
