MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Radiation Therapeutic Nursing - Central Nervous System and Pediatrics in Houston, Texas

Registered Nurse opportunity in the Central Nervous System (CNS) Radiation Department and Radiation Oncology Pediatric Clinic.

Key nursing responsibilities include patient education in preparation for treatment, extensive reinforcement of education throughout the treatment, and post-treatment education. The nurse is responsible for securing patient history, in depth knowledge of multiple pertinent medications, assisting with physical exam, coordination of care with significant complexity and multiple contact points, management of acute toxicities, administration of medications, etc.

Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidates are reliable professionals that will perform clinical and administrative task for adult and pediatric patients.

Shift: 830a - 5pm, Monday - Friday

Education

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Experience

Required: None

All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

Certification/Licensure

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) certification if working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200).
