Abbess Instruments and Systems, Inc. Refrigeration / HVAC Technician in Holliston, Massachusetts

Abbess Instruments Senior Refrigeration Technician Abbess Instruments engineers and manufactures custom Vacuum Chambers for a broad range of user-defined systems, serving uses from scientific experimentation to industrial production. As a Senior Refrigeration Technician, you assist in the design, assembly, testing, and inspection of refrigeration systems for Abbess products. Key responsibilities: Developing efficient methods for building and maintaining refrigeration systems Working with the engineering team to improve Abbess products, including offering suggestions on ways to improve systems or the system build process Contributing to product documentation (production and customer manuals) Bending and brazing copper tubing to various refrigeration components Installing refrigeration components into carts for single-stage and cascade refrigeration systems Troubleshooting a wide range of electrical components within a system Working with outside component manufacturers as needed Performing all refrigeration system tests, including: o Pressure testing Heat Transfer Fluid tanks o Pressure testing high/low pressure stages o Charging and/or vacuum testing all circuits o Debugging systems when necessary Providing field service for refrigeration components, including potential travel to customer facilities for on-site work (infrequent) Required skills/Qualifications: EPA 608 certificate Ability to read plans/schematics and build to spec 10+ years of experience working with refrigeration systems and electronic controls Experience with assembly of refrigeration lines, including brazing of high-pressure copper lines Effective communication skills and professional demeanor necessary for working with customers Ability to work with others, including shop staff and engineering teams Abbess Instruments operates within the requirements set forth by ISO 9001:2015 and adheres to a Quality Management System.
