JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a Part Time Research Assistant. This position will perform data extraction from the computerized health record and entry into structured databases for research projects related to air quality and the environment and lung disease. It will also develop asthma assessment metrics for school-based asthma programs. This position will also work with the study team to understand risk factors including social determinants of health, assure the collection of subject data based on protocol, serve as liaison with Principal Investigator and other team members, and enter data in support of scientific papers; develop and organize research materials such as visit forms, spreadsheets, and other documents. May attend patient/caregiver support groups and patient research advisory groups. The successful candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills. Also desirable would be a background in science as well as experience with diverse populations, community engagement, and working with school-based health programs.
