JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pathology in Hershey, PA is seeking a Part Time Research Assistant. This position will perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting biological and genetic research laboratory test, experiments to obtain data for research purposes. Familiarity with basic Molecular Biology and Biochemistry techniques, including ability to perform basic Molecular Biology techniques and biologic assays including cell culture, Western blotting, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry, transfection, RNA Isolation, qPCR.Confer with laboratory director to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments; make minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet the needs of the particular experiment as required. Review laboratory methods manual, scientific journals, abstracts and other literature for information applicable to research experiments.This position requires verbal skill to communicate effectively in English, Daily contact with researchers and technologists to coordinate research studies. Will have regular meetings with principal investigator and lab personnel.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Preferred:Bachelor or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university. Must have background in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or molecular biology, Experience in research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly molecular diagnostic or molecular biology.
