Sierra Nevada Corporation Systems Security Engineer III (Hybrid Eligible) in Herndon, Virginia

As a Systems Security Engineer III, you will be using your skills and expertise to design, test, and implement our secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, and tuning. You'll be responsible for the management of our IT security systems and applications, incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery actions, conducting risk and vulnerability assessments, and developing and implementing security controls. You'll research, evaluate, and recommend new security tools, techniques, and technologies in alignment with our IT security strategy and introduce them to the enterprise.

As a Systems Security Engineer supporting our Enterprise Data Hub, you will work directly with our NGA and industry partners to maintain and improve a cloud-based integration and test environment for critical Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities and exercises. You will be dual-hatted as the System Administrator and program technical lead. This role also offers unique exposure to other business areas and technologies across SNC.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and planning support for system integration and cloud architecture

  • Lead DevSecOps tasks in build-out of test and operational environments, including administration of the foundational architecture within each environment (e.g. web applications, LAMP stacks).

  • Assist the ES Program Management Office (PMO) and Information Security Officer (ISO) in meeting technical and programmatic requirements for the operational environments.

  • Assist with system hardening in accordance with DISA STIGs and assist with accreditation and continuous monitoring of EDH operational environments.

  • Support integration of new tenants and capabilities within the EDH test and operational environments.

Must-haves:

  • Ability to pass a Counterintelligence Polygraph

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related Engineering discipline and typically 6 years of relevant experience

  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.

  • Understanding of and/or prior experience working with multi-level security environments.

  • Experience as a system administrator, preferably within AWS environments.

  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems engineering concepts, methods, and processes.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of requirements management, systems design and integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and verification and validation principles.

  • Experience working within AWS C2E as a system administrator or software developer.

  • Working knowledge or understanding of AL/ML algorithms and approaches.

  • Background with DoD and IC programs and imagery/full motion video tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination preferred
