New York Medical College HR Administrator in Hawthorne, New York

Overview

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, The HR Administrator (Administrator) provides support for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department at New York Medical College. The Administrator will carry out responsibilities across multiple functional areas including but not limited to HR Operations, Leave of Absences, Retirement, Benefits, and New Hire Onboarding. The Administrator will coordinate standardized processes and collaborate on projects with colleagues in the Touro University Human Resources Department.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to initial employee inquiries, and as appropriate, forwards questions to the appropriate individual within HR (Benefits, Recruitment, etc.) for resolution.

  • Provides responses to employee verification requests and facilitates contact with outside vendors as needed.

  • Oversees the document management of various records, including paper format and electronic (BDM).

  • Assists with application of electronic personnel action forms (ePAF) in the HRIS database.

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of specific functions, i.e. updates to participants in retirement plan.

  • Assist in tracking onboarding tasks for all candidates. Follows up as necessary to ensure timely completion of onboarding documentation.

  • Assists with posting positions on job boards through the Applicant Tracking system.

  • Assists with maintaining accurate information on all external recruiting sites (e.g. Indeed) and college/university alumni job boards.

  • Assists in effectuating the pre-employment processes (E-Verify), and new employee onboarding activities; and tracks progress for completion.

  • Runs scheduled reports on a regular basis.

  • Keeps track of sick and vacation time program for union employees.

  • Assists with planning employee service recognition program.

  • Maintains holiday calendar, and posts online.

  • Facilitates and tracks leaves of absence program for all employees, including for STD, FML, PFL and LTD, and coordinates actions and follow up with HR Business Partners.

  • Handles and processes worker’s comp claims.

  • Uploads information on retirees to our third-party administrator.

  • Tests NYMC Benefits setup for new plan years, open enrollment, and implementation.

  • Sets up NYMC Benefits rates in banner.

  • Reviews and completes Affordable Care Act.

  • Assists with offboarding employees as necessary.

  • Reconciles invoices, and initiates payment for vendor bills such as Benefits providers.

  • Inputs requisitions into finance module; may research pricing as needed.

  • Provides general administrative support to HR Department as needed.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree, with 1 or more years of related work-related experience (including internships) preferred.

  • Equivalent work-related experience of 4 or more years of administrative experience, preferably in Human Resources, may be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree.

    Skills:

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with Banner human capital management (HCM) software a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of faculty, staff, and management.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Extensive Use of Computers

  • Able to lift up to 5 lbs.

Minimum Salary

USD $48,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $60,000.00/Yr.
