Job Summary

The School of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Oboe. This is a nine-month appointment with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will teach studio oboe and chamber music, reed-making classes, recruit undergraduate and graduate oboe students, and maintain an active performance schedule. Additional teaching assignments are possible based on the candidate’s interests and areas of expertise.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as assigned.

  • Service on School of Music committees

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MM degree in Oboe at the time of application.

  • A strong commitment to teaching and the recruitment of outstanding students.

  • Proven artistry and significant experience as a performer.

  • Evidence of successful teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DMA degree in Oboe completed prior to the start of the appointment.

  • A history of successful teaching at the college level.
