To handle pretesting of patients. Primary duties begin with scanning of insurance cards,verifying demographic information, pretesting the patient's vision and eye health on various pieces of equipment and daily care of the examination equipment. When not directly involved in patient care, duties may also include helping to answer the telephone and making appointments. Previous office and/or customer service work is helpful.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:  - Beginning of day set up and end of day closing preparations of the pretesting and examination rooms.   -Greets patients and scans their insurance cards and verifies that their demographics and insurance information is correct.   - Pretests the patients, including taking their medical history, confirming medication list, taking visual acuity and performing screening tests. Escorts the patient to the exam room.   - Answering the telephone, making appointments and verifying that the next day's schedule is printed.   -Assisting others in the office as needed.  

Knowledge and Skills:  Experience - previous office work is helpful but not required.   Education - High school education/GED or higher.   Interpersonal Skills - Friendly personality and good people skills are needed as patient interaction will be done.  

Other Skills  Must be able to use a computer and other general office equipment (Phone, scanner/copier, printer, calculator, etc.)  Training of office computer programs and pretest equipment will be provided.   Ability to communicate in English.   

Work Environment 

Generally,an office environment. Occasional need to travel to other locations for business and/or meetings/conferences/education.
