Dignity Health Radiology Technologist in Grass Valley, California

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs diagnostic procedures in the field of radiology including x-ray fluoroscopy and Surgical procedures in a hospital setting. Position could also float to cover outpatient areas.

Competently and consistently performs the following

1.1 The Radiological Technologist Demonstrates competency in patient care while performing a broad range of imaging procedures.

1.2 Uses AIDET on all patient interactions.

1.3 Introduces self and verifies patient identification using two patient identifiers. NPSG-1 Establishes or verifies patient symptoms and conditions through interview or review of medical record, recording information on the exam form while also communicating all pertinent information to the radiologist.

1.4 Maintains and preserves patient privacy, dignity and comfort by using table pads, patient gowns, blankets and sheets to cover the patient during procedures.

1.5 Demonstrates mastery of use of radiographic equipment and accessories. Includes CR, DR, fluoroscopy, OR (C-arm/Portable).

1.6 Assesses image quality for position, artifacts, density and contrast prior to patient leaving department. Reviews difficult or questionable examinations with a radiologist or coordinator. Demonstrates ability to trouble-shoot cause of poor quality images and takes corrective measures.

1.7 Ensures exam is completed - labeled, dated, all appropriate paperwork scanned and QA issues resolved , before submitting it to be read.

1.8 Maintains clean, well-stocked work area. Checks stock for proper rotation and expiration date.

1.9 Maintains sterile technique when applicable. Demonstrates mastery of universal protocols and time out procedures.

1.10 Performs Meditech functions - completion of exams - Ordered to Taken Status - and charges for appropriate exams and supplies.

1.11 Provides radiation protection for patients, assistants and self in accordance with all regulations.

1.12 Demonstrates the knowledge of the proper uses and dangers of contrast media.

1.13 Assures that equipment is clean and in proper working order. Initiates services calls when necessary.

1.14 Provides patient centered care using appropriate communication and patient education.

1.15 Performs PACS duties to ensure proper documentation and processing of exams. Duties include merging exams, merging patients, burning images on CD, correcting A1+, and correcting other QA issues.

1.16 Utilizes work practices to minimize wait times and to enhance patient loyalty and endorsement. Attends operational huddles and actively participates in improving patient experience using workgroup rotation. As time and staffing allows.

1.17 Performs non-technical functions within the department as appropriate, i.e. clerical tasks, linen and supply stocking, discharge phone calls and thank you cards as time and staffing permits.

1.18 Attends a minimum of 3 staff meeting per year.

1.19 Achieved 75th percentile in "loyalty and endorsement score for modality workgroup provided support personnel are utilized.

Qualifications

REQUIRES:

  • California fluoroscopic permit eligible.

  • Current California license as a certified Radiological Technologist.

  • Current ARRT registration.

  • Current BLS Healthcare Provide.

  • Knowledge of: Anatomy and physiology (to include cross sectional when required).

  • Medical terminology related to radiology.

  • Principles of operation and care of radiological and diagnostic imaging equipment including C-arm.

  • Practical knowledge of currently accepted radiological procedures.

  • Radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient and public. Image processing systems. Mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements in the patient examination environment.

  • This position is hospital based for inpatient and emergency room support as well as outpatient locations.

PREFERS:

  • 1 year of hospital experience

Pay Range

$51.10 - $62.17 /hour
