Corewell Health RN Nursing Supervisor Outpatient Cardio Electrophysiology in Grand Rapids, Michigan

About the Cardiac Electrophysiology Program

This program is comprised of 8 electrophysiologists, 4 EP APPs, 16 EP RNs, and 4 support staff. This program’s primary work is patient consults arrhythmic disorders, procedure coordination, and follow-up care. The patient population has diagnosis’ ranging from Afib/flutter, SVT, Vtach, heart block, and heart failure just to name a few. Our physicians see patients in 8 locations and perform procedures at the Meijer Heart Center and Holland Hospital. Our nursing team supports our physicians by partnering in patient management and having direct patient contact between provider encounters. We see patients in clinics, virtually, as well as care for patients via telephone and MyChart. We coordinate care for our patients with multiple different specialties as well.

About Corewell West-Cardiovascular Medicine

The Cardiac Electrophysiology program is one of many sub-specialities within CHW Cardiovascular Medicine. Cardiovascular Medicine is the largest outpatient care center for all cardiovascular disorders. We have 50+ physicians and 50+ advanced practice providers that see patients mainly in the 13-county service area. Our providers cover both outpatient and inpatient care inclusive of a variety of invasive and non-invasive procedures, cardiovascular testing and monitoring and multi-disciplinary care. Cardiovascular Medicine is a division of the Fredrick Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute, which spurs clinical innovation, cutting edge research, patient and physician education, and operational excellence in cardiovascular care.

Scope of Work

This role coordinates and oversees front line clinical and operational activities for the section of Cardiac Electrophysiology to ensure effective and efficient delivery of high -quality clinical care for our patients.

Foundationally, this role is responsible for:

  • Staff schedules (RN, EP MA)

  • Physician Lab/Office Ratio Oversight in conjugation with EP Procedure Coordinator

  • Liaison between Ambulatory and Lab operations

  • AFib and EP Quality metrics, including DPI

  • Facilitating EP-centric clinical care flow modifications

  • Practice optimization projects in conjunction with the Practice Manager

  • EP Access (Office and Lab)

  • Clinical care pathways (AF Clinic, Post-AF Surgical Ablation Clinic via CT Surgery, Lead Extraction, LAAO)

  • API/Payroll maintenance

  • EP Staff Team Meeting Agenda design and minutes

  • EP Section Meeting contributor

This role is critical to fill for the following reasons:

  • As a working supervisor for the EP team, it’s important to have a leader who knows or can learn the work and can fill in on the team when volumes or staffing are challenging.

  • To know the work, there is better facilitation of change management when it comes to Epic, workflows, and clinical care guidelines.

  • This role not only has played an influential role in EP but has also been a key player at the table when it comes to CVM Nursing collaborations.

Job Summary

Directs the activities of clinical staff within assigned area and ensures the delivery of efficient, smooth patient flow and patient satisfaction.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates the delivery of safe, efficient and timely patient care. Provides clinical care to patients as needed to support and facilitate smooth function, using the nursing process. Assures that a mechanism is in place to track and follow-up on diagnostic tests and referrals.

  • Acts as a customer advocate and provides ongoing communication with customers, staff, and multidisciplinary team regarding customer, staff, management and quality issues.

  • Assumes a leadership role and delegated appropriately to support staff to facilitate safe, quality patient care in a cost effective manner.

  • Conducts performance evaluations of staff, sets goals with staff and works with staff to improve performance, as necessary.

  • Facilitates a positive work environment which supports staff and encourages professional growth. Guides, mentors, motivates, acts as resource and support to staff, encouraging continual growth as a professional and self directed learning.

  • Provides input into the budget, monitors monthly expenses and approves invoices as directed.

  • Provides input into the development, implementation and evaluation of unit/department/division/service/goals and prioritizes them so that they are consistent with patient care/administration needs.

  • Participates in process improvement activities/research studies, outcomes management in area of accountability.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in nursing

  • 2 years of relevant experience of recent, relevant clinical experience Required

  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required

  • Ideal candidate will be an RN possessing 5+ years of Cardiology experience, ideally Electrophysiology experience

  • Ideal candidate will also possess 2+ years of Leadership or Charge RN or Nurse Navigator or Nurse Education experience

  • This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • Schedule is Monday to Friday

  • May work 8-10 Hrs. per Day, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

  • No Weekends

  • No Holidays

  • May work Remotely 2 Days per week while working 3 Days at Bradford Location or Meijer Heart Center office space
