Metro Health Diagnostic Imaging Technical Supervisor in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Metro Health (now the University of Michigan Health-West) is looking forĀ a Diagnostic Imaging Technical Supervisor.

Under limited direction, the Diagnostic Imaging Technical Supervisor is accountable to plan, manage and coordinate the day to day activities for assigned modalities within the Radiology Department including: MRI, CT and/ or Offsite Radiology Services, and related computer systems. The Clinal Supervisor will assist in developing, implementing and monitoring operational capital budgets, new programs and business activities associated with the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The Clinical Supervisor will serve as a backup to Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Imaging, Radiation Safety and PET CT as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degrees in Business Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
  • ARRT certified.
  • Five (5) years or diagnostic imaging experience required.
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be skilled in the use of information systems and computer literate.
  • Demonstrates leadership expectations.
  • Working knowledge of CPT-4 coding system.
  • Familiarity with computer systems.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills. Current BLS certification - Basic life support.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Follow the strategic plan of Metro Health Hospital's mission, vision, values.

Effectively organizes the Radiology Departments. Departmental operating systems including registration, scheduling, offsite general radiography and systems to support those operations.

Participates in cost control activities through an organized system of planning and monitoring the utilization of supplies and equipment.

Maintains an organized operation to ensure safe, efficient accuracy of work and information flow. Sets and achieves departmental targets and goals and creatively leads work group to accomplish them.

Promotes positive customer service and employee relations by projecting a favorable corporate image to professional, courteous, and effective interaction with customers, staff and other agencies. Builds effective working relations and fosters a spirit of teamwork within the work unit. Maintains job descriptions.

Provides all facets of personnel management including staff, work assignments, scheduling, performance evaluations, corrective action, policy development, motivation, competencies, etc.

Assist in the development, implement and monitor an operational capital budget for the area of responsibility.

Evaluates new and/or alternative equipment and supplies, confers with sales representatives and relays to personnel and management team.

Develops and maintains sound working relationships with other hospital departments and with physicians and their office staff who make use of the Diagnostic Radiology Departments.

Demonstrates a commitment to managerial development through participation in meetings, committee membership, and the pursuit of continuing education.

Develops, recommends, administers and updates departmental policies and procedures.

Effectively manages time to provide leadership and visibility for areas of responsibility, which may include multiple buildings where services are provided.

Maintains equipment and work area in a safe and healthful condition and observe for radiation safety. Periodically inspects work area and properly corrects hazards and unsafe conditions or practices.

Financial monitoring to determine reasons for late charges, credits, and other RIS patient details.
