Trinity Health Clinical Nurse Specialist - Clinical Nurse Leader - RN - Perioperative Services in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Description:

Position Summary: In association with the clinical leadership team, and through a collaborative role with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, and according to established policies and procedures, the CNL role provides horizontal leadership accountable for the management of care and the care environment through knowing the patient, communication and lateral integration of care.

What you will need:

  • MSN from an accredited school of nursing with CNL Program if applying for CNL

  • Licensed Registered Nurse; must be within 6 months to licensure with CNL Certification. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with an approved certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is required.

  • CNS Certification: Acceptable Certs: Adult Health, Pediatric Nursing, Gerontological Nursing, Public/ Community Health Nursing, Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health, Child/ Adolescent Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner

  • three years acute care nursing experience

  • Progressive experience in health care including involvement in direct patient care, educating staff, and problem solving of unit or organizational issues

What you will do:

  • Serves as a change agent to translate and integrate evidence into practice

  • Design and evaluate care and improve outcomes

  • In addition to generalist preparation in nursing with enhanced clinical skills, the CNL is primarily unit or setting based and is responsible for coordination of care for a specified cohort of patients within a micro-system

  • The number of patients for which the CNL is responsible depends on the health care setting and patient nature and complexity

  • The mix of nursing personnel required in acute care is a function of the nature and quantity of work that must be accomplished on a particular unit. In his or her day-to-day practice, the CNL develops an overall view of patients, families and caregivers and establishes strong partnerships with them to deliver optimal care
