Education

Minimum: Graduate of a two-year program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP)

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited CAAHEP program

Credentials/Licensure

Minimum: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Certification or re-certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) (RDCS for Cardiac) (RVT for Vascular) with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS in OB, AB or both) or able to attain credentials within 1 year of hire. Once registered, must maintain registry status in compliance with the CE requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services.

Preferred: Registry in OB, AB and RVT

Preferred: One or more years of ultrasound experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Able to perform all ultrasound procedures and operate all machines, in a safe and proper manner.

  • Able to assist the Radiologists with invasive procedures.

  • Must be able to articulate exam results, as directed by Radiologist, to Physicians, RN’s, and patients.

  • Must be able to assess and monitor patient condition during procedures.

  • Must be able to perform all clerical and support functions associated with ultrasound process.

  • Must be able to properly instruct students in on the job clinical.

  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet customer needs.

  • Must be a team player, and help other staff (when appropriate) to ensure short patient wait times.

  • Must be able to demonstrate good customer service skills, find ways to better serve customer.

  • Must demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, to patients, clients, hospital staff, and all radiology staff.

  • Able to help maintain adequate supply inventory.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
