Grand County Crusher Foreman in Granby, Colorado

This position is responsible for performing duties in daily sand and gravel production site, and supervising Crusher staff. Work performed at multiple crushing sites in the County.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Supervises crusher equipment operators, laborers, and truck drivers and all contracted employees working in the pit area; assures a safe working environment; performs daily inspections. Plans and reviews activities of the crew, sets work priorities based on the needs of the assigned district and assigns duties to the various employees. Assures that pit leases and/or permits are current. Schedules and transports crushing equipment from pit to pit; prepares pits for installation of equipment; moves over burden and stockpiles for replacing. Determines mix of materials as ordered; tests materials with Gilson testing equipment. Determines work procedures and operational methods and instructs employees on these methods for efficient operation. Assists employees with work related problems and requests and makes recommendations regarding personnel actions. Prepares and maintains records on materials production, equipment utilization, fuel consumption, repairs, and needed supplies; orders fuels, parts and supplies. Reports daily records of materials processed to the Department office. Files state and federal reports. Operates crusher equipment which involves regulating flow of materials, making adjustments to control grade of product, and cleaning and lubricating equipment. Schedules and inspects maintenance and repair of crusher equipment; recommends equipment replacement. Verifies employees are using safety equipment and that work is being performed within state and federal guidelines. Works with US Forest Service, BLM and other agencies. Processes work orders, invoices, timecards and ensures proper paperwork is submitted. Maintains compliancy with state agencies regarding air and water quality requirements. Investigates accidents; documents and photographs as necessary; may conduct post-accident drug and alcohol testing. Assists with equipment and snowplow duties at both airports; may assist with FAA projects. Schedules and supervises maintenance activities at the Middle Park Fairgrounds including preparation for annual fair, preparing the arena for special events. Assists with special events in the County. Attends training sessions. Assists Superintendent in annual budget preparation. Calls Denver Flight Services to issue NOTAM's for both airports as needed. Coordinates with private land owners and business owners regarding equipment storage, property/land reclamation and mitigation. Repairs County buildings and remodels offices. Participates in County safety program development. Performs other related job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); and six (6) years of related experience in crusher and equipment operation and/or training, and training in mine safety rules; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Qualifications: Possession of a valid, State of Colorado commercial driver s license. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment. Certification in National Incident Management System Training, Incident Command System Training, first aid CPR, Advanced First Aid certification, flagging card, and Mine Safety (MSHA Training Certificate). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill and experience in operating and maintaining heavy construction equipment, employee supervision, methods and equipment used in sand and gravel industry, equipment operation safety, mechanics, administrative and accounting record maintenance, basic office computer skills, and public rel Ability to read, an lyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public. Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to effectively supervise others and to work well with others. Location: Multiple Sites within Grand County 40 hours per week/ 2080 per year. Benefits (medical, dental and life insurance; matching retirement plan; paid leave time) Pay range: $73,914.39 - $111,802.14 annual
