The Medical Assistant performs select procedures, treatments and other duties under the direction of a licensed provider. This position provides medical assisting duties to facilitate the flow of patients and support the health care provider. This position is also responsible for the office and support coordination for a physician practice including patient check-in and check-out, registration, billing, medical records, referrals, etc. Medical Assistants demonstrate a high regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, visitors and hospital personnel and support the Patient’s Bill of Rights. Medical Assistants also maintain harmonious working relationships and clear communication practices for purposes of continually improving patient care. High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical or medical setting; 3 years of experience and experience in a physician office preferred Basic Life Saving (BLS) or obtain within 6 weeks of start Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred Assumes responsibility for maintaining current knowledge related to the age and development of the patient population served. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret technical documents. Basic math skills and ability to compute figures Familiarity or proficiency with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Ability to perform phlebotomy and EKGs with minimal medical support. Ability to use a computer including basic skills in MS Word and/or MS Access Ability to effectively communicate sensitive information and respond to appropriately to questions from providers, staff and the public. Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions and solve problems as they relate to responsibilities. Salary Range The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $17.25 to $23.36 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
