Position Description:
The Department of Chemical Engineering of the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University invites applicants for tenure-track or tenured positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels. We welcome applicants from all areas related to Chemical Engineering, including chemical and process sustainability, renewable energy, pharmaceutical and biological engineering, and advanced materials and manufacturing. We seek outstanding individuals with a strong potential or proven record for excellence in research, in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, and in promoting a culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Rowan Chemical Engineering is rapidly growing and strengthening its graduate and research program. Of note for this year alone, two of our faculty received the highly competitive NSF CAREER Award, eight PhD and nine MS students successfully graduated, and our faculty have received major extramural funding, including a $36M US Army grant in convergent manufacturing, a $1.5M U.S. Department of Energy grant as part of the Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2), and a $1.3M U.S. Department of Education GAANN award that is supporting eight new PhD fellowships in chemical sustainability research. Rowan Chemical Engineering believes in providing our students a highly integrated experiential learning experience, and unique to this experience is our Engineering Clinic program that immerses our undergraduate and graduate students together with our faculty to pursue research challenges while providing skills training in teamwork, mentorship and leadership.
Research by our faculty are in the broad areas of clean energy, sustainable materials and fuels, carbon capture, pharmaceutical engineering, tissue engineering, process systems engineering, and advanced materials and manufacturing. Our department faculty leads a major university research center at the South Jersey Technology Park, the Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Institute (AMMI), which serves as the collaborative nexus, bringing together multidisciplinary Rowan researchers and stakeholders in the search for globally sustainable materials and manufacturing solutions. The AMMI together with our department and university house state-of-the-art processing and characterization facilities.

A national leader in engineering education, the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering was founded in 1995 and quickly gained national recognition for its innovative multidisciplinary, project-based approach to engineering education. In 2013, the State of New Jersey designated Rowan University a comprehensive research university, and in 2017 our University was recognized as a Carnegie-classified research institution. During that period, Rowan Engineering doubled both its full-time faculty and student population and started the engineering PhD programs. In 2017, we opened the doors of Engineering Hall and completed a full renovation of our original home, Rowan Hall. These projects tripled our available space and provided the College with state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities. We currently enroll over 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students.

The successful candidate will:
Have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Have a strong record of scholarly achievement.
Develop a team with student and faculty collaborators and engage in high-impact practices such as student-faculty research and engagement in interdisciplinary initiatives and outreach.
