WKU in Glasgow seeks applicants for a part-time Early College Advising Associate at the WKU in Glasgow campus. This position will work directly with the WKU in Glasgow faculty and staff, providing academic and wrap-around student support for dual credit students enrolled in the Early College at WKU in Glasgow. This position will collaborate with the seven partner school districts (Allen, Barren, Caverna, Glasgow, Hart, Metcalfe, & Monroe) to educate students, parents, and community stakeholders of the opportunities available through this specialized dual credit program with five cohorts in Agriculture, Business, Crime and Legal Studies, Education, and Nursing. The Early College Advising Associate will work to connect students to necessary student services and university offices to facilitate admissions, registration, financial assistance, and other student services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are customary for this position but are not all- inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

  • Serve as Advisor for Early College students, including routine student communication and meetings, registration and scheduling, monitoring students' curricular progress, and meeting with students under academic warning.

  • Recruit students in seven partner high schools for Early College program through classroom visits, parent nights, and community awareness.

  • Serve as liaison and routinely communicate with guidance counselors, school administration, and school transportation officials from partner high schools delivering application and registration processes, communicating schedules, student concerns, assisting with KHEAA Dual Credit and Work Ready Dual Credit Scholarships, and communicating relevant university updates.

  • Serve as liaison with WKU Early College faculty and academic departments ensuring student needs are being met and faculty are aware of support opportunities available for students.

  • Organize on-campus and community fieldtrips each semester engaging students in each of the five career tracks.

  • Facilitate students' textbook orders.

  • Collaborate with Regional Campus marketing manager creating promotional materials, social media updates, and press releases.

  • Assist students with high financial need in applying for additional scholarships to cover outstanding program expenses.

  • Collaborate with other university staff, including Admissions, Student Financial Assistance, Dual Credit, and the WKU Store.

  • Annually review and update Early College Handbook.

  • Collaborate with Kentucky Department of Education's Career and Technical Education office aligning Early College coursework with existing CTE course codes to maximize high school pathway completion.

  • Organize annual orientation for new students.

    Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid driver's license

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
