Construction General Laborer
Job Description
Laborers have the general responsibility to provide support and assistance to other skilled crafts working on the project. They provide support for form carpenters, concrete operations, ironworkers/rodbusters installing reinforcing steel, and masons installing block and brickwork. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Responsibilities
Prepare areas for concrete placement by performing final excavation of dirt and rock, and fine grading for floor slabs, which involves shoveling for extended periods of time.
Assemble concrete forms by lifting prefabricated metal form panels and assisting in their placement.
Handle the concrete bucket suspended from a crane to transfer concrete from the truck to the placement area, and then spread the concrete evenly.
Assist in stripping concrete forms and transporting them for storage after the concrete has cured.
Support concrete finishers in moving power trowels and power screeds to finish concrete surfaces.
Support block masons by handling and transporting bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout, as well as stocking blocks and bricks.
Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames by transporting them from storage to work areas and stacking them where needed.
Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute site materials according to project plans and specifications. Ensure that all materials are properly distributed and the site is well maintained.
Promote a safe work environment by communicating jobsite hazards, securing the jobsite at the end of each day, and ensuring all materials are properly stored.

The work environment is a new construction site for a Lifetime Fitness on 15 acres of land, featuring a 120,000-square-foot building across two stories and 640 parking spaces.
