The RN Clinical Coordinator/Patient Care Specialist (PCS) is a key member of the surgery dept, and is responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients in the areas of Robotics, General Surgery, GYN, Urology, Colorectal, Thoracic, Vascular and ENT.

Description:

The RN Clinical Coordinator/Patient Care Specialist (PCS) is a key member of the surgery dept, and is responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients in the areas of Robotics, General Surgery, GYN, Urology, Colorectal, Thoracic, Vascular and ENT.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible and accountable for:

  • Precepting and mentoring staff in application of the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients with non-complex and complex bio-physio-socio-spiritual needs.

  • Providing clinical teaching and supervision and directing the most appropriate patient assignment for new and experienced staff.

  • Facilitating and participating in staff development, including orientation and training.

  • Participating in performance evaluation and management including verbal coaching and counseling.

  • Participating in the development and/or revision of patient care standards and pathways.

  • Improving patient outcomes through application of evidence-based findings to advance nursing practice.

  • Developing patient and staff education materials and serves as a consultant for patient and staff education needs.

  • Proactively identifying areas of concern and collaborates with the health care team to problem solve and find solutions.

  • Promoting unit specific certifications and advances in education, and participation in the clinical advancement program.

What you will need

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program

  • BSN required. MSN preferred.

  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.

  • BLS certification (through American Heart Association)

  • Minimum of 5 years of specialty specific experience (surgery)
